Written by the NSPCC, this short child protection awareness programme is designed for anyone who comes into contact with children during work, voluntary or leisure activities.
NSPCC Child Protection Awareness breaks down the complexities of child abuse and gives you the essential need-to-know information, such as what abuse is, the different types of abuse, identifying possible signs and indicators of abuse and who to turn to should you suspect a child is being maltreated.
The programme is delivered in four short modules with questionnaires to test understanding. On successful completion, participants are awarded a personalised NSPCC certificate.
Learn about the different types of child abuse: physical, sexual, emotional and neglect. Understand how they can affect a child and how to manage your own feelings. Eliminate misunderstanding by learning about some of the common myths and facts about child abuse.
Identify possible physical and behavioural signs of the different types of abuse. Learn how to respond if a child confines in you and how you can give maximum support to a child in need.
Understand the importance of taking action to prevent child abuse from occurring. Follow the step-by-step action plan to report any concerns you may have about a child.
Protect yourself from false allegations by following a code of conduct and implementing principles of good practice. Learn how to implement new policies and procedures in your organisation and how to look for signs of those who may pose a threat to children when recruiting new staff.
