Worried? Need to talk?
Young people have told us they feel worried or embarrassed about
talking to an adult about their problems.
Worried? Need to Talk? is an NSPCC booklet and website
to help you find someone to talk to if you are having problems.
Why is it hard to talk to grown-ups?
-
they think they won't be listened to or taken seriously.
-
it might even be that an adult has let them down before.
-
they think they will lose control of what is happening
 |
To try and get people to think who children can talk to, we sent
out a million Worried?
Need to talk? booklets (PDF, 393KB) to schools across
England, Wales, Northern Ireland and the Channel Islands.
The booklets are crammed full of advice on what to do if you are
worried about problems such as bullying, racism, family relationships,
drugs and alcohol. |
There are names and addresses of loads of places you can talk about these
issues if you don't want to talk to someone you know.
This includes the NSPCC Helpline, open 24 hours a day,
seven days a week on 0808 800 5000.
The website, www.worriedneed2talk.org.uk,
has a fantastic feature where you can hide what you are looking
at with the click of a button.
It also shows you how you can cover your tracks so no-one will
ever find out which site you have been looking at. |
