The NSPCC announces today (10 May) that a new Chairman of the Society will succeed Sir Christopher Kelly in the autumn.
Mark Wood, one of the UK's leading financial figures, and former UK CEO of Prudential and before that at AXA, will become Chairman when Sir Christopher steps down after nine years at the NSPCC's Annual Council Meeting in October.
Greeting the appointment Sir Christopher Kelly said: "Mark will be a major asset to the NSPCC as Chairman and brings with him a wealth of experience and knowledge both of the NSPCC and the world at large. He is totally committed to our vision of ending cruelty in the UK."
Mark Wood is a long term supporter of the NSPCC and a Trustee between 2000 and 2007. He is Chairman of advertising agency Beta and digital media company Digitalis and Deputy Chairman of Paternoster, the insurance company which he founded in 2005.
Looking forward to his new role Mark Wood, who is married and has three adult children, said: "The NSPCC is one of the UK's greatest institutions, hugely relevant and respected today, and becoming Chairman will be a very special honour indeed. I've known the NSPCC for a long time now and I have the utmost respect for its staff and supporters in all they do to help children and young people.
"The Society has an exciting and challenging strategy to help many more children over the next few years. I am looking forward to carrying this through in my time as Chairman"
