John Hurt helps out ChildLine
Hollywood legend, actor John Hurt delivered a speech at the 12th Capital Corporate Finance Ball in aid of ChildLine on 9 September 2011 at The Landmark Hotel, London.
To help make the event extra special and mark ChildLine's 25th birthday, the ball had a 'Night at the Movies' theme. Some guests were so surprised to see John, a real movie star, that they assumed he was a lookalike.
John told the story of a young girl who was sexually abused by her uncle. After calling ChildLine she found the courage to tell her mother.
John has supported ChildLine for many years and is committed to our work with children and young people. Esther Rantzen attended the event and actor Graham Cole hosted. The ball raised £36,000.
