How your contributions made a huge difference

ChildLine has always been a trusted friend for children who needed to speak out. Since the service began in 1986, children and young people have been able to call to talk about their problems – from bullying to family issues to abuse. Often talking to us makes a life-changing difference, as one caller told us: “If it wasn’t for ChildLine, I wouldn’t be here.”
We believe that no child should suffer in silence
But over the last 10 years, as more children gained access to the internet at home and school, so many started to feel more confident and comfortable talking online. They told us that having a choice of ways to get in touch made them feel more in control – and the thought that a child should ever suffer in silence is unthinkable.
The great news is that, thanks to your support, ChildLine’s online counselling is now live. Children can now chat to a ChildLine counsellor in real time, or send them an email. A wealth of advice helps them explore issues like domestic violence, gangs or bullying. They can share problems and gain support from their peers. Therapeutic games, videos and drawing tools help them to understand and express their feelings.
It’s your support for the NSPCC that makes developments like these possible. And it’s thanks to you that we can keep growing as children grow. So for each time a child like Lucy tells us, “It really does help,” we thank you.
