Joint statement from NSPCC and CHILDREN 1ST about the ChildLine service in Scotland

"ChildLine has been part of the NSPCC since 2006. In Scotland, unlike in the rest of the UK, ChildLine has been managed by CHILDREN 1ST on behalf of the NSPCC, under a five year contract. Following a positive and planned joint review of the contract it has been decided by the NSPCC that from April 2012, ChildLine in Scotland will be managed and operated directly by the NSPCC.  This brings arrangements into line with the rest of the UK.

"CHILDREN 1 ST has operated, and continues to operate, the ChildLine service effectively and both organisations value the dedication and professionalism of the team here in Scotland.  The decision not to renew the contract after March 2012 reflects the changing operational needs of ChildLine and the NSPCC UK-wide.

"We look forward to continuing to work closely with each other on a range of initiatives where we add value to each other's services and areas of expertise and most especially where we can influence policy and practice in favour of children and young people in Scotland."
