BT Artbox launches in London
We're incredibly grateful to BT who have now launched BT ArtBox to the public. It is the most creative public art exhibition London has ever seen, using the famous red telephone boxes as the canvas.
A launch reception was held at the Mayfair Hotel celebrating the start of the project and thanking corporate sponsors and artists who have signed up early.
“BT ArtBox is the most creative public art exhibition London has ever seen.”
Svetlana Kirov, NSPCC Head of Corporate Partnerships
Esther Rantzen, Founder of ChildLine and Sandy Nairn, Director of The National Portrait Gallery, have both joined the project as Patrons.
Renowned artists and designers including Lauren O’Farrell, Scottish Sculptor and Installation artist David Mach, and British graphic designer Malcolm Garrett, who has worked for music artists such as Simple Minds, Magazine, Duran Duran and Peter Gabriel, will transform replica boxes into stunning pieces of art across the capital this summer, in aid of ChildLine’s 25th anniversary.
After the exhibition in July, a number of the top boxes will be auctioned off in aid of ChildLine and we hope to raise hundreds of thousands of pounds to enable us to answer 250,000 extra calls.
A website has also been launched and as the project grows in momentum, more information will be posted on this site.
