Will Aid 2011

Will Aid takes place again this November, during which time solicitors who have signed up to the scheme will waive their charges for drawing up wills. Those people who take advantage of the scheme are encouraged to donate the fee to the Will Aid charities instead.

The NSPCC are one of the charities chosen to benefit from the scheme again this year. Will Aid has raised over £1.5 million last year, with a considerable amount of the total given to the NSPCC. The scheme has been running since 1988 and in that time has raised over £9 million for charity.

Making a will is an important way of protecting loved ones in the future. Unfortunately many people haven't got a will and die without having made one. When this happens belongings are distributed according to intestacy - a detailed impersonal set of rules that dictate where the money goes.
