The top ten children's books - as voted by NSPCC supporters

We recently asked our 126,835 Facebook fans to tell us about their favourite children's book on the NSPCC Facebook page. This simple question attracted a huge response, with 584 people coming onto the page to tell us about their favourite childhood book.

Our supporters favourite was Julia Donaldson's classic picture book, The Gruffalo, which tells the tale of a mouse who took a stroll in the deep dark wood. There were plenty of other classics as well, and we've teamed up with Amazon so our supporters can buy any of them with 10 per cent of the price going to the NSPCC. Just click on any of the links below to get to the book you want and go through the normal purchasing process.

The top ten children's books as voted by NSPCC supporters are:

1. The Gruffalo - Julia Donaldson
2. The Very Hungry Caterpillar - Eric Carle
3. The Magic Faraway Tree - Enid Blyton
4. The Famous Five - Enid Blyton
5. The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe - C.S. Lewis
6. Guess How Much I Love You - Sam McBratney
7. We're Going on a Bear Hunt - Michael Rosen
8. The Tiger Who Came to Tea - Judith Kerr
9. Matilda - Roald Dahl
10. The BFG - Roald Dahl

Many thanks to Julia Donaldson, Axel Scheffler and Macmillan Children's Books for use of the images from 'The Gruffalo'
