NSPCC launches new helpline text service
If you're worried about a child, text us on 88858
A new way of contacting the NSPCC Helpline has been launched. The text service is the fourth way that the public can now contact the NSPCC if they suspect that a child is in danger. The other ways of contacting us are by calling on the phone, emailing or online messaging. The text service, however, is likely to be used by people who want to report child abuse 'on the spot'.
The reason for the launch of the new service comes off the back of the results of an NSPCC survey. It found that people may be unlikely to report a concern unless they do so immediately. By providing the text service it is hoped that more instances of child abuse will be reported. We can then quickly take the appropriate action to ensure that the child is no longer in danger.
If you're worried about a child, please use this service by texting us on 88858. Alternatively you can call 0808 800 5000 to talk through your concern, or use our email or online service.
