Andell Maraj

Helpline administrator

Andell MarajWhat do you do?

I am an administrator on the NSPCC Helpline.

It’s amazing. The work itself is quite rewarding, but what makes it extra special is the people you’re surrounded by. We all have an amazing balance of goal-driven commitments and fun, which makes working here almost perfect.

Why did you join the NSPCC?

I previously worked for the Crown Prosecution Service, but I joined the organisation in 2005, because the opportunity to get involved in an area surrounding social work and childrens’ welfare came about. I was aware of the reptuation of the organisation beforehand so the opportunity was even sweeter.

What benefits are there?

A comfortable environment where you can be yourself. I think when you’re most comfortable, your productivity and commitment follow. Also, I think it’s brilliant that the NSPCC spends time developing your skills to help you not  only in the job but for your future in the working environment.

What do you find rewarding?

Satisfaction knowing I had an active part to play in protecting a child. Getting involved in projects both on the helpline and outside, really feeling as though your words are actually being taken into account in decision making.

What values are important for working with the NSPCC?

Trust, commitment, conscientiousness, open-mindedness and diversity, willingness to learn and develop yourself, respect and courage.
