Glyn Purchase

Management information officer

Glyn Purchase What do you do?
I administrate all areas of recruitment advertising for the Society. I manage the Recruitment Safeguarding team, which is responsible for obtaining pre-employment checks for all new starters. I am also responsible for housekeeping of the HR databases and providing management information.
It’s challenging in a good way. The Society is constantly evolving and my job evolves with it.

Why did you join the NSPCC?
Leicester City Council. I started with the NSPCC in August 2002. The role was a natural step in my career, a development of my existing skills and an opportunity to mould my own role within set values and work boundaries.

What benefits are there?
A good team ethic, interesting work and challenges. My ideas and opinions, although not always right, are respected. Paid a good salary that is relevant to my role excellent benefits (pension, annual leave) and the knowledge that my mangers both of them have a good understanding of a work life balance. This makes me want to continue to work and contribute what I can here.

What do you find rewarding about your job?
Knowing that I’m not just a cog in a wheel and that my work, although done in the background somewhat, helps the Society’s mission to help end cruelty to children.

What values do you feel are important for working with the NSPCC?
Respect, integrity – and a sense of humour!
