What do you do?
I am responsible for a team of brilliant people who generate partnerships with national companies. We approach all kinds of organisations whether it's applying for charity of the year programmes, pitching or cold-calling looking at the best ways for us to work together for mutual benefit.
It's so inspiring to be part of an organisation that's striving to achieve something as important as this. It's a creative and fun place where you get to work with bright and energetic people who really care about children.
Why did you join the NSPCC?
I joined the NSPCC three and a half years ago because I wanted to work for an organisation that I believed in and where there would be opportunities for me to grow and develop. Before working for the NSPCC I worked in the special events team at Great Ormond Street Hopsital Children's Charity.
What benefits are there?
It's a great place for personal development, whether it's through the many training courses that are on offer, participating in activities like the softball team, or the Microsoft Challenge event.
Because it's a relatively big organisation you can also move around. I started off in the London Events and Corporate team before moving to the National Corporate Partnerships team and progressing to become an account director (or fundraising manager). Many colleagues have had similar experiences.
What do you find rewarding?
Every day is different and there's always something new and exciting to be working on. I get to think creatively and strategically every day, work with fun and interesting people and I know firsthand, through volunteering as a ChildLine counsellor, that the money I'm helping to raise is making a real difference to children who desperately need someone to turn to.
What values are important for working with the NSPCC?
Passion and inspiration are really important to ensure that we're raising as much money as we can. It also helps to have a good sense of humour - you can find yourself doing all sorts of crazy things in the name of fundraising!
