NSPCC ambassadors

Kylie Minogue OBE

Kylie MinogueKylie Minogue, the iconic pop star, was appointed the first ever ambassador for the NSPCC in August 2003. In her role as an ambassador Kylie lends her support to NSPCC Campaigns with special reference to the NSPCC Child Protection Helpline and acts as an advocate for young people.

During most of 2005 and part of  2006 due to illness Kylie took time out of the public eye but has now re-entered professional life and reaffirmed her commitment to the NSPCC pledging her full support.

Prior to her illness Kylie was active on a number of fronts.  In November 2003 she donated a large number of tickets for her one and only London show, the private ‘Money Can’t Buy’ concert, to the young people we work with . She followed this up in 2004 by donating tickets to her amazing ‘Kylie - Show Girl’ tour which were auctioned at NSPCC events and raised over £10,000.

In September 2004 in her role as NSPCC ambassador she attended the Matalan Ball and spoke engagingly and passionately about her support of Matalan’s Safe Place Appeal helping to push fundraising to almost £1 million. She endorsed and was the celebrity face of the NSPCC’s show piece schools’ fundraiser, Number Day .  In addition she has supported a number of corporate and donor relationships as well as giving us rare memorabilia to auction.

Kylie Minogue says:

"Cruelty to children is an everyday occurrence, which must be stopped. The work undertaken by the NSPCC is essential and I fully support its mission to end child cruelty. I support its vision of a society in which all children are loved and valued. The levels of abuse in this country are shocking. Without charities like the NSPCC, they would be worse. Together, we may be able to improve the lives of children within the UK ."
