One of the UK's top singing talents, Simon Webbe, joined forces with TV stars Sheree Murphy (Emmerdale and I'm a Celebrity), Shobna Gulati (Coronation St) and Clare Nasir (GMTV) to launch MSN Search's unique 'Clicks Count' campaign for the NSPCC. The campaign which launched on 22 March 2006 at www.clickscount.co.uk and raised tens of thousands of pounds for the NSPCC by donating money for every search carried out through the special site.
The 'Clicks Count' campaign, which ran throughout the summer, gave UK searchers the opportunity to raise money in a simple, innovative way. Every time a search was made, MSN automatically made a donation to the NSPCC.
Simon Webbe, when speaking about the campaign said : 'Get searching! Every click counts for kids that need your help and it doesn't cost you anything.'
Sheree Murphy also gave her support. She added: “From TV guides to travel guides I’m always searching for the latest information. It’s fantastic these clicks will now raise money for children – make sure yours count like mine.’
Other celebrity supporters showed their enthusiasm for the campaign and the NSPCC. Clare Nasir said ‘I’m a fanatical searcher –so it’s great to know that each of my searches can now help raise money for children’ and Shobna Gulati added "I made my click count".
The campaign added to Microsoft UK’s support for the NSPCC over the last 11 years. Microsoft UK has donated over £5million in cash, software and consultancy to the NSPCC and helped raise a further £11million through sponsoring schools fundraising materials.
