Catherine agreed to become an ambassador for the charity as the work it undertakes to improve the lives of children in Wales is something close to her heart. Catherine said: “My Welsh roots are extremely important to me. Even though I now live overseas, they are never forgotten. My memory of a happy childhood serves me well and gives me a clear insight into what every child in Wales has the right to.
“I’m only too aware that not all children are as lucky as I was growing up and I feel very strongly about the aims and objectives of the Appeal and want to do everything I can to ensure that every child is loved, valued and able to reach their potential.
“As an adult and especially as parents, the thought of children being abused is unacceptable to Michael and myself and this simply has to stop. I feel it is important to bring my support to the FULL STOP Appeal and help to raise the funds needed to continue the NSPCC’s vital work which it undertakes to end cruelty to children across Wales.
“The FULL STOP message is clear – child protection is everyone’s responsibility. I hope by adding my support and becoming involved it will encourage others to do so too.”
In Wales, the cost of delivering NSPCC services is almost 3.5 million per year. NSPCC Cymru/Wales currently runs 17 different services in Wales from locations across the country. These include the Young Witness Service, Therapeutic Service and Children’s Advocacy and Representation Service based in Catherine’s home city of Swansea.
