Rugby legend and NSPCC ambassador Jonny Wilkinson recorded a special message for viewers of Sky One’s The Match. The Match pits celebrities against footballing legends for a one-off charity football match played at the home of Newcastle United FC – St James’ Park.
For the second year, the NSPCC was one of the benefiting charities. Jonny Wilkinson recorded a message about the work of the NSPCC which was broadcast as part of The Match tv programme. The Match viewers saw exactly where the money raised would be going and also got to hear about why the NSPCC is so close to Jonny’s heart. He said:
“I support the NSPCC because of the work they do to help children who have suffered terrible abuse and harm. I had a very happy childhood and I believe a loving and happy childhood is a good foundation for a successful and fulfilled life."
Jonny also attended The Match in person to watch the legends beat the celebrities 2-0.
