"Harry Potter escapes abuse and neglect when Hagrid the giant smashes his way into Harry's life. The NSPCC's, Be the FULL STOP campaign seeks to make a similar difference in the lives of those children who feel unloved and unwanted; children who are suffering cruelty at the hands of those who should be caring for them.
"The power that really transforms Harry's life is not magic, which brings him as many problems as pleasures, but love. Showing love and affection to children is the single most important thing we can do for them, because it will result an inner strength and self-esteem that will serve them better than any material possession you could give them, better even than a magic wand. I hope so much that the FULL STOP campaign will succeed in its aim of transforming the lives of those real children who are living in hope of a miracle."
"Whether I'm playing for Newcastle or England it's such a boost to my game when I know that people are behind me and cheering me on. It would be so much harder to score a penalty kick if everyone in the stands was jeering and telling me I was useless. But that's exactly what life is like for children who are emotionally abused by adults in their lives - made to feel like they do not deserve love and will never achieve anything in life. I have been lucky enough to have the complete support and love of all my family and friends and am determined to ensure this backup is there for every child; after all we are all the same. Please join me and choose to Be The FULL STOP with the NSPCC - if we work together as a team we can all help end cruelty to children."
Longstanding NSPCC supporter and television sports personality, Gabby Logan she launched the NSPCC's FULL STOP Week 2006. Gabby demonstrated how people can get involved in FULL STOP Week by posting her commitment to end child cruelty on the first ever UK-wide map of actions to end cruelty to children. The map includes a growing force of fundraisers, donors, campaigners, volunteers and others who have taken action to help a child at www.bethefullstop.com
"Feeling loved and supported in childhood is so incredibly important. Through my work, I have seen first-hand the devastation and long-lasting consequences when this does not happen. Such cruelty must stop. All children should grow up feeling loved and wanted. Please join me this autumn in supporting the NSPCC's Be the FULL STOP campaign and help end cruelty to children."
"Every child deserves to be loved and valued but tragically there are many thousands whose lives are made a misery by emotional abuse. Thankfully we don't have to let this happen - and every one of us can take action. Join me and choose to Be The FULL STOP with the NSPCC. Together we can all help end cruelty to children."
