The Child's Voice Appeal

Let no cry go unheard

Child's Voice Appeal logoThe Child's Voice Appeal is the NSPCC’s new fundraising initiative to raise over £50 million for the Helplines development programme and is our biggest call for support since the FULL STOP Appeal of 1999.

The Government has pledged to give the NSPCC a grant of £30 million to develop our helpline services over the next three years, on the proviso that we raise an extra £50 million ourselves; in order to make sure no child’s cry for help goes unheard.

The NSPCC has been providing a lifeline for children in distress, at risk of abuse or who have nowhere else to turn through our helplines:

• ChildLine is a free and confidential 24-hour helpline for children in distress, danger or who just need advice
• There4me.com is an interactive website that gives real-time online support for young people aged 12-16 on a broad range of issues. It gives them direct confidential access to experienced social workers
• NSPCC Helpline   formerly know as the Child Protection helpline, is a 24-hour helpline supports and advises adults concerned about the welfare of a child

Currently, one in three children calling ChildLine can’t get through, 60 per cent of children who need in-depth counselling will not be able to speak to a counsellor and the NSPCC Helpline for adults who are concerned about the welfare of a child, can only answer 70 per cent of calls it receives – therefore we need your support to answer every call for help and provide every child in the UK with the support and advice they need 24 hours of every day.

Launching on 22 September, the Child Voice Appeal will appear online on the NSPCC website, where users will be taken on a journey to understand why we are having the appeal, what we will do with the money raised and the difference it will make. User’s will be able to donate to the CVA and are encouraged to sign-up (providing their details for further communication). The campaign will also be supported by TV and online advertisements.

Our vision is to answer every cry for help, from children to adults alike. We want to ensure that all children are offered one-to-one support be it by phone, online or through SMS text messaging and every adult knows who to contact if they are concerned about a child’s safety.
