Be the FULL STOP 2007

With just under 5,000 child cruelty crimes reported in 2006 - NSPCC calls on the nation to Be the FULL STOP

The Be the FULL STOP 2007 campaign aims to encourage people take action against child abuse to help end cruelty to children.

Backed by a four week national TV, press and digital advertising campaign; as well as PR media, fundraising and campaigning activity.Be the FULL STOP logo

The Be the FULL STOP map -  www.bethefullstop.com has been further developed so, not only will people be given the opportunity to register their support but they also get the chance, through a succession of 19 deeds, to take a range of actions to help put an end to cruelty to children.

Over 28,000 thousand supporters have put their names to the Be the FULL STOP site so far and once on the map, which allows you to visualise the thousands of people who believe they can help stop cruelty to, you can:

• Invite friends to join you and create your own, personal network of support
• Take further action and find out about donating, fundraising, volunteering or campaigning for the NSPCC
• Explore the map and see how other people are taking action in your area and across the UK and Channel Islands
• Be part of a committed and active community of NSPCC supportersGirl from TV Click ad

When supporters go to www.bethefullstop.com they will be shown a list of deeds, some large and some smaller, that they can take to support the NSPCC help end cruelty to children. They will be encouraged to sign up in order to save their own personal deeds checklist and to get on the map if they have not done so already.

Some deeds will be instant and on-site, others will direct them to www.nspcc.org.uk and others will be things they can do at home or in the community.

We are working with Facebook, Yahoo Answers, Pigsback and NetMums to help raise awareness, engage their users with our cause and drive traffic to the bethefullstop.com site.  These popular social media sites offer us a unique opportunity to enter into a dialogue with potential supporters and create a sense of community and action around the idea that doing a small deed can make a big difference to children everywhere. By offering internet users a chance to directly engage with the NSPCC within their chosen online environment, we hope to provoke a deeper sense of motivation to make their next click and visit bethefullstop.com to do their part in helping end cruelty to children

As part of this year's Be The Full Stop, our partners in campaigning will highlight safeguarding as being everyone's responsibility. This builds on the summer holidays awareness raising initiative on keeping children safe in community and activity groups. Campaigns tailored to England, Wales and Northern Ireland will be launched on 15th October.

Local communities will also be playing a strong part in the campaign this year with activities taking place across the UK and Channel Islands, the Birmingham, Bristol, Crawley, Newcastle and Sheffield hubs. Local influencing aims to reach people who would like to help but don’t know what they can do personally to end cruelty to children. Bristol and Crawley teams will take a preventative approach to child cruelty by running parenting campaigns; Sheffield and Birmingham will highlight the effects of domestic abuse on children and young people.
