Play Retro is now closed - thank you to everyone who got their game on!

What is Play Retro?

Play Retro is all about getting your old school game on and raising money. Whether it's Sonic or Super Mario, quick-fire gameplay or epic marathon sessions, joining our gameathon will help us to still be here for children. All you need to do is select a retro game,* sign up and get playing.
*Unfortunately, we can't provide the retro video games!

Three steps to Play Retro

1. Sign up

Sign up today to get to the next level. Play Retro any time before 29 November.

2. Plan your gameathon

Play solo or get social and compete with friends and family (virutally or in real life). You could even stream your gameathon to encourage more people to watch and donate - whatever presses your buttons!

3. Game on and get fundraising!

Every pound you raise as you play helps us be here for children. Try setting up a JustGiving page to help reach the £50 target.

Play Retro top tips

How to have the best gameathon!

  • Pick a game: There are so many great retro video games to choose from, you don't have to limit yourself to just one. Revist an old favourite or try another classic.
  • Drum up sponsorship: Drum up sponsorship or charge a fee to play.
  • Have some fun: How about theming the event to tie-in with the games you’ll be playing? From crazy costumes to the food you'll need to keep you going, make it an event to remember.

Your gameathon, your way! Just sign up, play and collect coins for the NSPCC.

How your fundraising helps

This year, your support has been more important than ever. The pandemic has brought a whole range of new challenges and we’ve had to adapt and do things differently, including the way we raise money. That’s why online events like Play Retro are essential. By hitting a fundraising target of £50, you can help us still be here for children.

Home isn’t a safe place for every child. Many are at risk of abuse, face online dangers and experience pressures on their mental health. With your support, we can help make sure that no child is left to cope alone.
