Little Stars: lighting up London’s Oxford Street

Name a light for someone special and help keep children safe this Christmas

Little Stars street view on Oxford StreetWe’re the official charity partner for the 2016 world-famous Christmas lights display on Oxford Street.

And this year, everyone across the UK will have the opportunity to be a part of this magical display.

By naming a light for someone special, and making a suggested £5 donation, supporters will be helping to keep children safe from abuse and neglect.

The thousands of little stars lights will twinkle and sparkle among the existing gold and silver baubles and LED bulbs as part of the Oxford Street Christmas display.

Christmas should be a special time, when children's dreams come true. Abuse and neglect can destroy that - but it never should. On average, a child contacts Childline every 25 seconds. Right now, we can only answer 3 out of 4 contacts from children who need our help. But with your help, we can change this.

The Little Stars campaign is proudly supported by Hasbro.

Peter Wanless, chief executive of the NSPCC, said:
"We're delighted to be chosen as the first ever charity partner for the Oxford Street Christmas Lights and are asking the public to help us light up the world famous display throughout the festive period.

Anyone can get involved by making a donation and naming a star to someone special in their lives, each donation and each light will help us keep children safe from abuse, so they’re free to dream at Christmas, and all year around.”

Join us at the Christmas celebrations

The 57th Christmas lights switch on event will take place on Sunday 6 November. You can join us at this special occasion as we take over Oxford Street and host a children's Christmas VIP Day – celebrating and welcoming families and children of all ages.

You can all enjoy a day of entertainment including on-street screens, live streaming of all the action for spectators and shoppers, music from music station Capital FM, pop-up street food stalls and special appearances from well-known kids favourites such as My Little Pony and Transformers.

And of course watch all of our named little stars light up at the big switch on in the evening!
