Santander raises over £1.3 million to help us protect 100,000 children

Our charity partnership with Santander more than beats its target and showcases all the fun things people can do to support our work

Santander halloweenOur ChildLine Schools Service will be able to reach 100,000 children this year, thanks to the remarkable fundraising efforts of Santander employees. Through our Charity of the Year partnership, Santander raised over £1.3 million in 2014 for our ChildLine Schools Service and other vital services.

This incredible amount far exceeds Santander's goal to raise £1 million. It means we can deliver age-appropriate workshops and assemblies to 100,000 children in primary schools across the UK and Channel Islands.

The assemblies and workshops will help 9-11 year olds understand abuse, how to protect themselves and where to get help if they need it.

Santander staff took part in a wide range of fundraising activities throughout the year, including 'Total Wipeout' challenges, mountain climbing and tower running.

Santander skydive for NSPCC

As part of the partnership, staff also attended ChildLine Schools Service assemblies to see first-hand how the money raised will help to protect a generation of children and prevent abuse before it starts.

"I’m extremely proud of the tremendous hard work and generosity of our colleagues, customers and suppliers who together have made such a significant contribution to the ChildLine Schools Service. It’s a fantastic achievement."

Santander employees group photoPeter Wanless, NSPCC CEO, said:
"Throughout the year, Santander staff have devoted a huge amount of time and dedication to fundraising for the NSPCC. From climbing Snowdon in the dark and riding bikes across Spain to jumping out of planes and going head to head in team challenges, their energy and enthusiasm for the cause has been inspiring.

"We cannot thank them enough for all their hard work. With their help in 2014, we have been able to continue to fund our ChildLine Schools Service and give thousands of children the confidence and courage to speak out earlier and seek help if they ever need it."
