Minding the Baby - Referrals At a glance
Minding the Baby is available to mums who are:
- 19 and under, or 20 to 25 years old and receiving means-tested benefits, and
- are having their first child, and
- primarily English speaking.
Means-tested benefits are:
- HealthyStart vouchers
- Income Support
- Income-based Jobseekers Allowance
- Income-related Employment and Support Allowance.
Minding the Baby is being tested to see what a difference it makes to families. We’re working with the University College London to measure its impact by doing some research using a randomised controlled trial (or RCT).
Taking part in the trial
Mums who live in the areas where Minding the Baby is available will be told about the research at their routine 20-week scan. They’ll be asked whether they would like to hear more about it from a research midwife.
Research midwives will provide families with detailed written information, explain more about what will happen and work out if the family might be able to take part.
If you would like more information about the randomised controlled trial, contact the University College London research team on 020 7679 1244.
