It’s Time: campaign report Our campaign to get every child who has been abused the therapeutic support they need
We're calling for every child and young person who has been abused to get the help they need to rebuild their life.
Our report sets out the thinking behind our campaign. It summarises the available evidence on the number of children who are abused, the impact child abuse can have and how the right support can help turn lives around. It also looks at the current shortfall in the provision of therapeutic services and outlines what needs to change.

Key findings
Abuse can have lasting consequences for children's mental, physical and emotional health.
High quality therapeutic support can help children and young people rebuild their lives.
There are clear indications of unmet need among children who have been abused.
To make sure that every child who has been abused receives the support they need, there needs to be:
- increased investment in therapeutic services
- a clear vision for the planning, commissioning and delivery of services
- better evidence around the demand, provision and best practice for therapeutic support.
"As children and young people who have experienced abuse, we want to be treated gently and with respect – we're still 'normal' young people, please help us recover and lead fulfilled lives."
