Try our Baby Steps SMS service

Sign up to receive weekly texts with tips, advice and support for your Baby Steps sessions. Try it out and tell us what you think.

We're launching a brand new text messaging service.

Sign up and you’ll get weekly texts with information about pregnancy and your Baby Steps sessions. We’ve also created a service for your Baby Steps practitioner to send session reminders to everyone in your Baby Steps group.

These new services are designed to prevent any worries you might have about what to expect or about missing sessions.

Help us improve our service

We want to find out how well the texts work and what you think of them. To do this we need your feedback. We will also collect data on how you are using the services.

Can you help us by testing the text services and telling us what you think? Your input will help us to improve the text services for you and for others.

How do I sign up?

Weekly Texts:

  1. Text your first name to 020 3389 8357.
  2. You'll be asked a couple of questions via text to complete the sign up process.
  3. Within a week you'll get your first Baby Steps text.

Session Reminders:

To be part of the group messaging service for your group, just ask your practitioner.

What else do I need to know?

If you change your mind and decide that you no longer want to receive weekly texts from Baby Steps, all you have to do is text STOP to 020 3389 8357.

If you do not want to receive session reminders from your practitioner text #leave to the group number that you are receiving the messages from.

We want to see if the text service works, so we want to count how many mums sign up to the service, how many texts are sent and check they are sent to the right people. To do this, the developer (DVELP) will send the NSPCC a list of how many texts were sent/ received and if the links in them were opened. All of this data is kept securely.

To create these lists we will be keeping track of how many people have signed up to the text services and what links have been clicked on. All of this data collection is completely anonymous – we don’t know who has signed up and who has clicked on a link, we just know how many people have signed up and how many people have clicked on a link. Because the data is completely anonymous there is no way to remove individuals that have signed up to the service from the data collection, therefore if you signed up to receive the text services that will have been recorded and will be included in the evaluation report we put together.

If you do not want your data to be included do not sign up to the services. If you have already signed up to the weekly texts you can opt-out of the service by texting STOP to 020 3389 8357. If you do not want to receive session reminders from your practitioner text #leave to the group number. Once you have opted-out of the services no new data will be collected.

Once you've been using the text service for around 3 months, your practitioner will ask you to complete an evaluation form. This will allow us to gather everyone's feedback.

Your practitioner will also ask you to sign a form giving your consent to being apart of the evaluation.

The feedback you give will feed into an evaluation report but your name will not be used. We won’t tell anyone what you said unless it makes us worry that a child or young person is at risk and then we have to tell somebody. Your information will be kept safe and secure. Any reports will only use completely anonymised data. Reports will mostly be used internally by the NSPCC to decide if we should expand the project. The external companies that are helping us with the project will also see the reports, but again they will only see reporting based on anonymised data.
