The Gherkin Challenge - Terms and conditions
Conditions of entry
By entering the Gherkin Challenge or registering for a Gherkin Challenge Champagne Lift Pass, you confirm you are 18 years or older and that you have read, understood and agree to the following terms and conditions which is the basis of your relationship with the NSPCC (“us”, “we”).
The Gherkin Challenge must be completed within 40 minutes.
We strongly advise participants to consult their doctor before undertaking any form of exercise.
You are responsible for ensuring that you and your team members taking part in the challenge are physically fit enough and able to participate.
Your participation in the Gherkin Challenge is at your own risk and the NSPCC will not be liable for any direct or indirect loss or damage howsoever caused to you or to any personal property in connection with The Gherkin Challenge other than for death or personal injury caused by our negligence.
Registration fee and lift pass fees
The Registration fee is £25 per participant. Lift pass fees are £50 per Adult for a Champagne Lift Pass or £80 for 2 Adults. A Children’s Lift Pass is £25 per child or £40 for 2 children. All children must be accompanied by a paying adult.
The Registration fee and lift pass fee are non-refundable.
Champagne Lift Pass
Champagne Lift Passes may only be purchased by an adult who will be 18 years old or over on 22/10/2017. Children of any age are permitted in the bar at the summit when their accompanying parent/guardian has purchased a Champagne Lift Pass for all attendees but they will not be served alcohol under any circumstances.
The Gherkin Challenge will only be cancelled or postponed due to unforeseen and unavoidable circumstances. In such an eventuality all participants will be notified by email as soon as possible. If in the unlikely event we have to cancel the Gherkin Challenge, then we will refund your registration fee to you.
There may be a limited period for availability of discounted places as advertised from time to time.
The organiser reserves the right to terminate, extend or renew the discount offer at any point.
By registering for a place in the Gherkin Challenge, each participant must pledge to raise a minimum of £250, in addition to the Registration fee.
Children under the age of 18 years are unable to take part in the tower running element of the event but may attend as a guest of the participant provided they are accompanied by a parent/guardian at all times
If you are intending to bring any child/children as a guest on the day of the event then you hereby confirm that you are the parent/guardian of that child/children.
Race numbers (Sunday 22 October 2017)
For safety reasons and for the identification by medical staff race numbers cannot be transferred, resold or swapped.
You are responsible for ensuring your emergency contact details are written on the inside of your race number.
Participant names will be held by JSRE 30 St Mary Axe Management Limited for building security purposes. Every person who is taking part in the Gherkin Challenge must bring photographic identity on the day. This can be a photo card driving license or passport.
Participants without this identification will not be allowed in to the building.
Please make sure you are wearing suitable clothing and footwear to undertake The Gherkin Challenge. If a participant is not wearing clothing or footwear which we deem suitable on safety grounds, then they may be refused access to the Gherkin Challenge.
You are unable to take any items, such as phones or cameras, on to the stairwell that cannot be contained in a zipped, secure pocket. Please do not bring anything valuable to The Gherkin Challenge. All bags and loose items have to be left at the owners risk in the provided cloakroom to be collected once the challenge has been completed.
The organisers reserve the right to refuse someone access to the Gherkin Challenge. Examples of reasons include but are not restricted to; misuse of alcohol or other substances, sight of an injury which would make it unsafe for the participant to compete.
Use of photos or film
By entering and registering for the event you give permission for the free use of your name, voice or picture in any photo images or video footage broadcast, telecast, advertising, promotion or other account of this event by us or the NSPCC in any future fundraising or publicity materials including national and regional press and on any of our website(s) as well as on the NSPCC’s Twitter, Facebook and Pinterest accounts. In addition, you agree to NSPCC storing copies of such photo images or video footage and your contact details in case we need to contact you.
Parental Consent for use of photos or film
Parents/guardians with parental responsibility who are bringing their child/children as guests to the event hereby give permission in relation to any photo images or video footage taken on the day of their child/children, for the free use of their name, voice or picture in any photo images or video footage broadcast, telecast, advertising, promotion or other account of this event by us or the NSPCC in any future fundraising or publicity materials including national and regional press and on any of our website(s) as well as on the NSPCC’s Twitter, Facebook and Pinterest accounts. In addition, you agree to NSPCC storing copies of such photo images or video footage and your child/children’s contact details in case we need to contact you.
If you do not want any photos or video footage taken of you or your child/children at the event, or would like to discuss further please let us know as soon as possible by contacting the event organiser by email at this address: firstname.lastname@example.org
Food and drink
Due to safety reasons, food or drink are not allowed on the stairwell. Refreshments will be available at the end of the Gherkin Challenge.
The NSPCC advises you to drink responsibly.
We would like to contact you from time to time with updates about the work of the NSPCC, how your support has helped children and how you can support us in the future By entering the Gherkin Challenge, you confirm you are happy for the NSPCC or us to contact you by post, unless you have indicated otherwise on the registration form.

Change of address/contact details

These Terms and Conditions shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales and you agree to submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the English courts.
