Asked what motivated them to take up the challenge and how it was, James said:
"Obviously we are born singers! The real reason is that we both wanted to something fun and somewhat different... setting a challenging target and then really going for it. [It was] very hard to keep a straight face. If you look you will see one or two sideways glances!
"We personally and the firm have a wider corporate responsibility and opportunity to support the most important causes and in this way we could quickly reach out to and connect to a large number of people both in the business outside of the business."
We're an official charity partner of Eversheds and both Michael and James have personally supported great causes like ours all their working lives. The pair's challenge to raise £5,000 for us was part of Evershed's 'Hark the Legal Eagles Sing' Christmas charity fundraising campaign, where they asked colleagues, clients, friends and family to donate in return for Michael and James performing 'Little Drummer Boy' on video.
You can read more about the campaign on their JustGiving fundraising page. Far from being embarrased, the pair are planning on "going bigger" this year.
Eversheds employees have really got behind the charity partnership. They have volunteered at local NSPCC service centres, ran marathons, taken on various challenge events, and Cardiff, Manchester and London offices all generously donated children's presents to local NSPCC service centres last Christmas. Employees have also raised money through various events held across their offices including:
- treasure hunts
- bake offs
- Christmas fairs
- tuck shops
- dress down days
To date, Eversheds have raised almost £76,000 during our partnership, helping to support our ChildLine Schools Service. Thank you Michael, James and all the other Eversheds staff who have put so much effort into supporting our work.
