In the average primary school class, at least 2 children have suffered abuse or neglect

Child abuse and its effects can be devastating. That’s why we’re visiting primary schools across the country, to help children stay safe from harm and to speak out if they’re worried.

Last year, our Speak Out Stay Safe programme reached nearly 1.8 million children in almost 8,000 primary schools. We’re protecting a generation of children against abuse, one primary school at a time. But we can only reach every school with your support. Please donate today.

"Because I did what I did that morning, that little girl will get some help."

"If it hadn't been for that assembly, I honestly think the abuse would still be happening."

Caroline's* 7-year-old son Luke* was sexually abused by a 13-year-old friend of the family.

Young boy standing outside in garden"On the day of the [Speak Out Stay Safe] assembly, Luke came home and he was very quiet. He seemed so withdrawn and exhausted. It was as though he had the world on his shoulders.

I can’t recall exactly how he said it – it’s all such a blur. I remember him saying to me:

"I've had child abuse. That's what it is and it's wrong."

I was so shocked. I wanted to cry but I couldn't because I needed to be strong for Luke. It [The Assembly] gave my son the words to articulate what had happened to him and to be able to say it was not ok. It's so crucial that we find the resource to support this vital service."

Help children like Luke speak out against abuse.
