About this course

Working at your own pace, you’ll learn how to:

  • recognise possible abuse
  • respond appropriately
  • report your concerns
  • record what you’ve seen.

How the online course works

Each section takes about 30-45 minutes to complete, followed by five questions. At the end of each section you’ll be given a full explanation of the correct and incorrect answers.

The course includes:

  • teaching pages
  • film clips
  • audio recordings
  • reflective tasks
  • interactive learning activities and quizzes

You have access to the course for one year following purchase and once you've successfully completed it you can download a personalised certificate of achievement.

The course is for anyone working or volunteering in sport who comes into contact with children and young people. For those who have regular contact with children such as sports coaches this can provide a useful precursor for more advanced face-to-face safeguarding training that is appropriate, and in some cases mandatory, for their role.

People who have taken this course include:

  • volunteers
  • guide leaders
  • community leisure officers
  • sports development officers
  • people working in children’s tourism and leisure

Our online training should run in most web browsers, though we recommend that you use Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, Safari, or Microsoft Edge.

Please note: our courses are not compatible with Mozilla Firefox.  Unfortunately our courses are also not currently compatible with iPads and other tablet and mobile devices.

Participant reviews

A very good interactive course that checks and challenges your thoughts and understanding. I would recommend this course to others either to recap on knowledge or for people new to safeguarding.
