What is Childhood Day?
Childhood Day is a national day of fundraising and action dedicated to keeping children safe from abuse and neglect. Taking place every year on the second Friday in June, it brings communities together!
Whether it's celebrated by class mates tackling the School's Mile, volunteers fundraising at a childhood day collection point or your workplace hosting a School's Out event, everyone can get involved to help make Childhood Day 2025 our biggest and best yet!
What School's Out event can we do?
You can celebrate with your colleagues however you like. You can do a full week of events or a one off fundraiser. We’ve shared suggestions below to help you get started but you can always find more ideas on our resources page.
Tuck Shop
Set up a stall filled with treats and goodies to sell to your colleagues.
Sports Day
Organise a pay-to-play office sports day and let the games begin!
Film Screening
Turn the office into a cinema and fundraise with a movie screening.
Get creative
Draw a self-portrait (school tea-towel style) and guess the colleague.
Dance party
What was the end of year without a DJ and a dance. Pop on a playlist and shimmy.
Certificates, posters, event invitations and more
Why should we take part?
Your amazing donations and fundraising help us reach millions of children and young people. In fact, over 80% of our income comes from those who choose to give to us. Find out more about how your money will be spent.
If you'd like to discuss if your donations and fundraising can be restricted to a particular service or region, please contact your NSPCC key account manager or email us.
School's Out FAQs
No, you can host your School's Out events whenever you like!
We’d love you to come together with people across the country celebrating Childhood Day on Friday 6th June or that week but we appreciate your support whenever suits you and your colleagues.
Think about how you'd communicate other news around your business and who you want to tell. Would it be a customer newsletter? Noticeboard? Intranet? Social media?
However you'd normally tell people about things that are going on will likely work well for fundraising too. You can also check out our Schools Out for Childhood Day resources for invitations and other resources to share with colleagues.
Yes, we have exclusive Schools' Out downloadable resources available here.
JustGiving
Collecting money through an online giving page like JustGiving can make things much easier. Any money collected through the page is automatically transferred to us, so you don’t need to worry about sending it in once the page is set up. Create a Just Giving page.
Cash
If people want to pay in cash, you can order an NSPCC collection box from our shop. Alternatively, any container - lunchbox, popcorn tub, empty sweet box will work. You can then pay the money in via our website.
Donations from companies aren’t eligible for Gift Aid. However, if you or your employees are donating as individual UK taxpayers, you can donate through Gift Aid, meaning we can claim an extra 25p for every £1 you give. Only donations are eligible for Gift Aid, so if you've had any sort of benefit for the money you’re giving to us, like entering a raffle or using money to buy a ticket for an event, that wouldn't be eligible.
If you’re using an online giving page like JustGiving, anyone donating will be prompted to consider adding Gift Aid to their donation where it’s applicable. If you’re collecting cash, we have a Gift Aid declaration form which provides more information. You can also read the government's guidance on Gift Aid.
If you are donating online, please make sure you are selecting that the donation isn’t from you as an individual, it’s on behalf of your organisation.
If you make a donation online or over the phone, you'll be sent a letter or email confirming the donation. If you need formal proof of donation for another purpose, please contact [email protected] and they can provide you with one.
