Triathlon race bag

What to pack for triathlon race day

pexels-Run4F-men-running.jpg

There’s plenty you need to pack for race day – so it’s a good idea to create a list you can tick off.

Don’t leave it until the last-minute to organise your bag: the last thing you want is realising, too late, that you’ve forgotten a crucial item.

You are aiming to arrive at the start line as calm and as prepared as possible.

Kit to take for your triathlon swim

    • Tri shorts, swimsuit, or tri suit
    • goggles: if possible pack a tinted and a normal pair so you’re prepared for all weather conditions
    • bright towel to mark your transition pen slot
    • wetsuit
    • waterproof bag to store your wet items.

Kit to take for your triathlon cycle and run

    • Bike – it goes without saying
    • race belt to clip on your number
    • helmet
    • cycling shoes
    • running shoes
    • sports socks
    • sunglasses and cap
    • water bottle – you could consider taking more than one
    • your energy snacks
    • tool kit: tube, CO2, levers, multi-tool
    • pump – but make sure that your tyres are well- inflated before you leave home
    • other kit
    • GPS watch and heart rate strap if you’ve used them in your training
    • anti-chafing balm
    • sunscreen
    • mini first aid kit
    • towel
    • recovery drinks/snacks and a warm change of clothes.

And don’t forget to pack your positivity!

Don’t just pack your bag. Mentally pack positive thoughts for the day by setting yourself some achievable goals for the race and plan rewards you can enjoy afterwards.
