Childhood is playing and learning, laughs and screams. It's often silly and sometimes it's tumbles. But for thousands of children, it's not. It's secrets they're scared to tell and bruises they try to hide. Every childhood is different. Abuse should never be a part of it.

This year, 11 June is Childhood Day where we come together to celebrate and protect childhood. Will you play your part and help us be here for children? Donate today.

Amber's story

RESTRICTED-35234-exp-2025-08.jpg

"When I was 9, I was sexually abused by a close family member. By the time I was 12, it was destroying me. I spoke to Childline and they helped me build up the courage to confide in a teacher, something I'd wanted to do for 2 years."

The case went to trial but collapsed due to a lack of evidence - which was a very distressing experience. After suffering anxiety and depression, Amber was referred to Letting the Future In, our therapeutic recovery service for children who've been sexually abused.

"It's made an amazing difference to me. It gave me this confidence I never had. I don't think I would be here at all now if it wasn't for the NSPCC."

How your donations make an impact

Around 90% of our funding comes from supporters, helping us reach children and young people across the UK.

In the first year of coronavirus restrictions, Childline delivered over 16,000 counselling sessions about abuse.

Your support helps us run services like Letting the Future In, helping children who've experienced sexual abuse rebuild their lives.

There are lots of ways you can support our work if you aren't able to donate online.

We've agreed to stick to a strict set of codes and a fundraising promise, which means we treat our supporters and donors with respect, fairness and honesty and we are always clear about how we raise money

80p in every £1 we spend goes directly to helping children and young people. This includes working with children and families, our helplines, schools service and child protection and awareness campaigns like PANTS. Read our Annual Report (PDF).
